How To Get Energized In The Morning

Why does it always seem like the alarm clock goes off way too soon? Are you having to get up early in the morning but finding it hard to get started because the bed just keeps calling your name? So did I until I started doing these things.

Why Am I So sluggish in the morning

To start with even though you open your eyes and get out of bed, your body may be moving but it takes time for your brain to engage. The brain is in a slow mode first thing after waking up even though the rest of you is geared to go.

That’s why it’s best not to make any decisions when you first wake up. Because once your brain does wake up it may be thinking what did you do now, then it’s too late.

One of the reasons you could be so groggy is your sleep quantity (not to be mistaken for quality). You could sleep for 8 hours or longer and still wake up groggy, but how you slept is what gets you.

Maybe you suffer from restless leg syndrome and your feet keep moving not allowing you to get into a deep enough sleep.

Are there noises outside or even inside that keep you from sinking deeper into that much-needed sleep?

Is it that big meeting at work or a test at school tomorrow that has got you worried all night long?

Whether you know it or not your brain really hasn’t shut off. So deep sleep wasn’t going to happen and now you have to get up and you don’t feel like it.

So what can you do to get energized for the day you ask? Well for starters keep reading…

What to do

  1. As soon as your feet swing off the bed and you’re sitting up your hand should be grabbing for a glass of water yes I did say water, not coffee or juice or any other beverage. Plain old water is the jump start to your system that it needs and a good stretch will get the water going in the right direction to your vital organs, one being your brain.

  2. I think the hardest habit for me to break was hitting the snooze button I mean it’s only 5 minutes that won’t hurt right, but then I got into the habit of hitting it a few more times which didn’t help. Because then I had to jump out of bed and rush, since now I’m running late.

In order to fix that I bought a louder alarm clock that did have a CD and radio player in it. So I put an upbeat CD in, found a station that played all the music I liked, and cranked it up. But since it had a snooze button on it I had to put it across the room so when it went off I had no choice but to get up out of bed to shut it off.

3. Take yourself outside while you eat your breakfast and have that morning drink

4. Instead of eating cereal that’s loaded with sugar try switching to a high protein breakfast regimen. Things like:

Eggs, apples, strawberries, oranges, bananas, avocados, oatmeal, Greek yogurt, almonds, cashews, walnuts, blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries to name a few.

5. Adding lemon to your water helps boost your vitamin C intake

6. After eating go for a walk or splash some cold water on your face.

7. A light routine of exercises will help as well

Three things you should think about doing to energize yourself are:

  1. Talk aloud about your day’s goals. This in turn wakes up your brain and gets it focused for the day

    2. Things that should be a no-brainer are, losing weight.
  2. Getting more sleep.

Vitamins

There are also some vitamins that might help energize you but before you go popping vitamins check with your doctor first

Vitamin D, magnesium, beetroot powder, potassium, vitamin B12, ashwagandha, and citrulline.

Now if you have tried all of these and still haven’t found the right one that works for you. You may have a medical condition like insomnia, thyroid, depression, anemic, or for men low testosterone.

For me, it’s restless leg syndrome and dogs that bark when a leaf blows across the yard or cats that love to bring in their latest catch and drop it on the bed alive while I’m in it.

Thankfully I have a strong mind plus getting rid of the snooze button on my alarm clock and finding upbeat music has worked for me. What have you found that works best for you Make sure to check out my other blog like how-to-stay-awake
