Easiest Tuna Noodle Casserole

Fast And Cheap To Make

So you got a long week ahead of you and you don’t feel like spending all your time in the kitchen cooking when you get off work or out of class. Do you just want to pop something quick into the microwave and sit back to relax? Well, I’ve got just the dish for you!

When I was attending college and had a long day at school, cooking dinner was something I didn’t want to spend a lot of time on especially if I had to rush off to my job that day as well. By the time I would get home all I wanted to do was relax, but of course, you have to eat – and just making a quick snack wouldn’t cut it.

How about cooking up something that you can freeze for dinner, lunch, or a snack? When you are hungry you just pop it in the microwave.

I never had time…..or money for that matter for nice dinners or lunches so I’ll share one of my favorite things to make which is very cheap, easy, and filling. The main dish is a simple dish that I could create new dishes from by adding or removing things in the dish I’m talking about:

Tuna Noodle Casserole and no, not the ones made with soup – mine is a bit…..drier.

The best part is the main ingredient doesn’t even have to be tuna it could be chicken or no meat for that matter, but we’ll start off with the way I make my Tuna Noodle Casserole recipe first. I’ll list the other ingredients you could substitute or add that I have tried as well.

Ingredients:

Disclaimer: once you use Tillamook cheese all other kinds of cheese will just taste wrong. Thanks a lot, brother!

=Make the mac and cheese how it says to on the box, while that is cooking:

=Drain the water out of the tuna. The corn doesn’t have to be fully drained, SOME water won’t hurt

=I use a glass 8 x 12 baking dish. Pour the tuna and corn into it.

=Once the mac and cheese is made mix it into the baking dish

=Sprinkle shredded cheese and lightly sprinkle the garlic powder on top

=Cover with aluminum foil and pop it into the over at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes

Once it’s cooked let it cool and then you are ready to stick it in the freezer.

But before you do that you may want to add a bit here and there and then you get a completely different dish.

As far as the bit here and there well let’s talk about what else you can do instead.

Mix It Up

There is a whole array of things you could try doing with this dish. Before I forget the reason why I didn’t put milk on here to make the mac and cheese is that I like mine a bit creamier and if you just add more butter and no milk it makes it that way.

This dish is very easy and cheap to make, you can use it as the main dish, a side dish, or eat it by itself.

The best part is you grab it from the freezer pop it in your lunch bag and by the time lunch rolls around it’s defrosted and ready to pop into the microwave for about a minute or more.

If you find that when you heat it up it’s a little too dry then next time add a dab of butter to it before you heat it up.

You can also sprinkle a light bit of water before heating but not too much or it will turn to mush if you don’t want to do the butter.!

These are the ingredients I bought from amazon and used:

The shelves in the stores around here are getting slim pickings, thank goodness for Amazon having everything I use.

Except for the garlic, I used the last of my old bottle up. And of course the butter I buy from the local store when they have it in stock.

Try your own and let me know what you used and how it turned out. Till next time which might be a bit on the sweeter side happy cooking.
